Evolution Thursdays: Ciara Knight

It has been a crazy week for my fellow authors at Crescent Moon Press. Sasha Summers' book Medusa, A Love Story, is available now and I have an excerpt in the very next post. I hope you'll check it out.

Ciara Knight is happily married to her husband, Chris. They have three amazing boys aged 5, 7, and 14. Life is never boring with three sons.

She writes Paranormal and Fantasy fiction for Adult, Young Adult, and Middle Grade. She’s actively involved in Romance Writers of America (RWA), her local chapter Georgia Romance Writers (GRW), and a specialty group of RWA, Futuristic, Fantasy, & Paranormal (FF&P).

Ciara, what gave you the idea for The Curse of Gremdon? (Psst. Readers...if you haven't read it yet, I HIGHLY recommend it.)
I’m not sure where the original idea came from, but I’ve always been a fan of high fantasy. Part of the idea for the world came from all the oppressive societies that have been in the news the last few years. I couldn’t imagine being treated different just because I’m a woman.
Do you recall the first scene you wrote?
The first scene for this book was actually in the last 50 pages. The book originated as a short story for a magazine. When I decided to work on it a little more, it turned into an 85,000 word novel.
Did you have a scene that you loved but ended up cutting?
Not in this book. I did have to cut a few scenes from my young adult paranormal, Rise From Darkness. I LOVED one of them, but it wasn’t necessary. It was also in a secondary character’s point of view, so it really had to go.
I usually have an a-ha moment, where an insignificant detail becomes something really important. Did you have a moment like that? Will it spoil the plot to tell me what it was?
Yes I did. Hmm…I’m thinking I better keep it to myself for now. I knew the bigger twists in the book, but there was a smaller plot detail that hit me and it will be worked into the second book.
Are you surprised where the story took you? Or if ended up where you planned, were you surprised how you got there?
I was shocked that it was so easy to write. I’d never experienced a book that came out so fast and easy. Now don’t get me wrong it was a writing mess, but the story was there.
What story idea is sitting in the class right now, raising his hand madly, begging you to call on him?
I’m working on three different series at once, so the characters are meeting out back on the playground after school to decide who gets my undivided attention next. Let’s see, we have a fallen angel with the hormones of a teenager, strength of an angel, and self-control of a three year old, a Neumarian with the power to suck out a life force, or an Elite warrior.

Hmm…I’m not sure who will win. I’ll have to wait and see. ;)
Well I, for one, can't wait! Thank you so much for stopping in today, Ciara. And to everyone who stopped by. Because I am such a fan of eye candy, I leave you with these gorgeous covers!

Next week, I'll have Joanne Brothwell to talk about her new novel, Stealing Breath.

    2. Brinda,
It was an anomaly from my usual methods. Actually, many things about The Curse of Gremdon deviated from my normal writing process. You are the talented one, girl. I Love your Whispering Woods series. :)
